This is a collaboration between A*STAR Graduate Academy and the University.
Singaporeans, Singapore Permanent Residents, citizens of ASEAN countries and other international students seeking admission as full-time Ph.D. research candidates in NTU are encouraged to apply for this scholarship.
Successful applicants have to take up Singapore citizenship.
Eligibility • Singaporeans and other nationals intending to take up Singapore Citizenship.
• Candidates must not concurrently hold any other scholarships, awards or fellowships.
• Applicants must satisfy criteria for and seek admission into NTU or NUS PhD programme.
• Applicants must have obtained at least a Second Upper Class Honours Degree or its equivalent in relevant disciplines.
• Applicants must have good 'O' and 'A' level track records. Polytechnic students with a Diploma with Merit will also be considered.
• Applicants with a strong interest in a research career are preferred.
• Applicants may submit GRE scores (if available) to be included in the overall assessment of their scholarship application.
Award details *
- Support for up to four years of Ph.D studies at NTU. The Ph.D degree is awarded by NTU.
- Research in Engineering and Sciences.
- Monthly allowance, full tuition, and other allowances (such as computer allowance, thesis allowance, book allowance, conference allowance).
- Opportunities for overseas attachment of up to 12 months during the Ph.D. studies.
- Successful candidates can take up a two-year post-doctoral fellowship (PDF) in one of the top overseas universities or research laboratories in the scholar's chosen field.
* Rates/allowances are subject to adjustments by A*STAR from time to time.
Bond
• Singaporeans (at the point of award): No service commitment
• Non-Singaporeans (at the point of award): 2-year service in Singapore-based companies* without
commitment to any specific organization. The area of work should preferably be in Biomedical Sciences,
Physical Sciences or Engineering.
• AGS (NTU/NUS) scholars who are subsequently awarded the AGS (PDF) for overseas post-doctoral
training will have a service commitment^ of 1 year with A*STAR.
* Singapore-based companies refer to local companies and international companies that have a base in
Singapore and which is registered with the Accounting & Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA).
^ The AGS (NTU/NUS) service obligation and the AGS (PDF) service commitment may not be served
concurrently.

Application procedure
- To apply for this scholarship, please submit 2 types of applications to the University - application for admission and application for AGS.
- After submitting your online applications, please print the AGS applications, indicate the “NTU application number and School applied to” on the top right hand corner and send the supporting documents listed in the application to the following address:

- It is not required to submit hard-copy documents to NTU as the supporting documents will be uploaded via the NTU paperless application portal
- It is the applicant’s responsibility to submit AGS application to A*STAR directly. Please have the following documents attached with the AGS application:
1. AGS application with supporting documents indicated by A*STAR Graduate Academy
2. Two recent photographs, passport size
4. Photocopy of GRE Scores
5. Official Transcripts (Master's degree) **
a. Official translation in English
b. Original Language
6. Photocopy of Master's Degree Certificate (where applicable)
7. Official Transcripts (Bachelor's degree) **
a. Official translation in English
b. Original Language
c. Grading or marking scale of the Transcript
8. Photocopy of Bachelor's Degree Certificate
9. Two Academic Referees' Reports (using prescribed form)***
10. Research proposal, resume, research publications and any other supporting documents
NOTE: There may be additional supporting documents required by certain programme/division. Please abide by the requirements as specified in the respective school's webpage.
** An official transcript of detailed academic results is required from each university or college attended. The transcript results should show marks obtained in each subject and not just grades obtained, wherever possible. If the transcript is in a language other than English, please provide an official English translation as well and the subjects in the translation should be listed in the same order as that of the original transcript. The applicant is responsible for requesting transcripts from his/her university or universities (use Form T). Please do not send your original degree certificates or original transcripts to the University.
*** Two recommendations from academic referees are required for the application. Applicants must use Form R.
University Transcripts and Academic Referees' Reports should be submitted in sealed envelopes.
