Health Insurance
NTU Group Hospital & Surgical Insurance (GHSI)
All exchange students are required to purchase the NTU Group Hospital & Surgical Insurance (GHSI) even if they have already bought a similar insurance from their home country.
This requirement is made to facilitate easier access to medical treatment whilst in Singapore, particularly admission to local hospitals. It costs $79 in premium for one academic year. More details on NTU health insurance can be found at the International Student Centre website
Banking
It is advisable to open a bank account while in Singapore. Your parents may also arrange to transfer monies into your account in Singapore by interbank telegraphic transfer. This is a cheaper option as compared with using your credit card to withdraw monies and a safer option than to carry around large amounts of cash.
Visa / Mastercard / American Express / Diners Club / Maestro / Plus are widely recognised in Singapore. You may withdraw monies from most bank machines. There are also ATM machines located around campus.
For full banking facilities, there is an Overseas Chinese Bank Corporation (OCBC) located on campus
