Short Term Study Assistance Scheme (SSAS) 

Who is eligible?

1.  Singapore Citizens undertaking a full-time or part-time undergraduate programme on a subsidized tuition fee basis.

2.  Gross monthly household Per Capita Income (PCI) of less than or equal to S$1,700.

(If your PCI is assessed to be $500 or less, you will be eligible for the CDC/CCC University Bursary of $1600. Application period for the CDC/CCC University Bursary is tentatively in October 2009. Gross income of family members in household 

Total number of family members in household 

               Gross income refers to amount before deduction of CPF. It includes allowances, overtime, commissions etc.

3.  Your tuition fees must be fully covered by either one or a combination of the following schemes: 

  • Tuition Fee Loan / CPF Education Scheme / Mendaki Tertiary Tuition Fee Subsidy or Loan Schemes / PSEA / Study Loan

4.  You must have taken up the following schemes:

  • For Full-Time students
    if your PCI is assessed to be greater than $500 per month If your PCI is assessed to be $500 or less per month
    • A Study Loan – taken up the maximum living allowance loan of $3,600 per annum under this study loan scheme, and
    • A NTU bursary / Donated bursary / MOE bursary / External bursary for AY2009-10
    • Study Loan – taken up the maximum living allowance loan of $3,600 per annum under this study loan scheme, and
    • A NTU bursary / Donated bursary / External bursary for AY2009-10, and
    • A CDC/CCC University bursary for 2009

      Please apply for SSAS only after the outcome of your CDC/CCC University bursary for 2009 is informed to you by the CC. 

      Application for SSAS will only be assessed on a case by case basis.
  • For Part-Time students
    • A Study Loan
    • A MOE bursary for AY2009-10

If you do not satisfy points (3) and (4) above, and the schemes are still open for application, you may apply for the relevant schemes concurrently with the Short Term Study Assistance Scheme.

Quantum

  • Maximum of S$1,100.  The actual quantum will depend on your financial situation and criteria set down by the University/MOE.
  • Award is tenable for one academic year.  For each academic year, you need to apply again if you are interested in this scheme.

Repayment

  • Not Required

How to apply

  • Apply online through StudentLink during the application period.
    • For NTU Full-Time students, please login to StudentLink for application.
    • For NTU Part-Time students, application form will be available once application is opened.
    • For NIE students, please login to NIE StudentLink for application
  • Submit supporting documents (FT UG)  / supporting documents (PT UG) in person or by post within 7 calender days upon your online application.
  • The award may be offered depending on your financial situation and criteria set down by the University/MOE.  
  • Outcome of your application will be informed to you via your NTU Student Email Account within 4 weeks of receipt of all the relevant documents.
  • Funds will be disbursed to successful awardees by end November 2009.

Application Period

Application for AY2009-10:

  • Apply online through StudentLink from 1 August 2009 to 31 December 2009

          (For AY09-10 freshmen, please matriculate online before applying for the scheme).
